Williamsburg Jewelers was born from a simple but bold idea: jewelry should be personal.
Michael Fagan is a successful jewelry store owner with more than 40 years of experience in the industry. He spent a significant part of his career at mall-based corporate jewelry stores, and even another locally-owned jewelry store that had a corporate feel. Michael worked his way up over three decades, and while employed by these other retailers, he learned exactly what he did NOT want to build. He was tired of:

Saying “no” to special requests

Forwarding customer concerns to a distant headquarters

Dealing with sales quotas, commissions, and high-pressure selling environments that didn’t serve the needs of the guest standing in front of him
So in 2018, he left the corporate world behind and set out to create something different- what he proudly calls “the anti-corporate jewelry store.”
Built on community (three of them!)
Williamsburg Jewelers officially opened its doors in January 2019 in Upper York County- placing it at the heart of Greater Williamsburg (allowing us to claim Williamsburg, York County, and James City County as our own!). The timing was intentional. Rather than rushing to open during the holiday retail chaos, Fagan waited until he had the right team in place and could deliver the level of service he envisioned.
“You never get a second chance to make a first impression,” he says.
That community-first mindset has shaped the store ever since. From its earliest days, Williamsburg Jewelers has supported local nonprofits, schools and small businesses- often saying “yes” to sponsorships and donation requests, even when the contribution is modest. The business actively encourages shopping local and promotes fellow small businesses throughout the region.
The result? A store that feels deeply woven into the fabric of Greater Williamsburg.

That community commitment- paired with exceptional craftsmanship- has not gone unnoticed. Williamsburg Jewelers wins multiple honors every year in the "Best of” Awards for Coastal Virginia Magazine and Virginia Media, including Best Jewelry Store and Overall Gold. These honors reflect not just popularity, but trust- the kind that only grows from consistent care, quality, and integrity.

Fagan and his team dress business casual for a reason- he wants guests to feel at ease. Whether you’re replacing a $20 watch battery or designing a $20,000 engagement ring, you receive the same attention and respect.
“The person buying the battery today might be buying the ring tomorrow,” he says. “We’re here to take care of people.” Store hours reflect that philosophy too. Most of the year, Williamsburg Jewelers closes at 5 p.m. and remains closed on Sundays- prioritizing both customer experience and staff well-being over extended retail hours.

When Curtis chose Williamsburg Jewelers as his exclusive retailer, it marked a defining moment for the store. The first batch sold out in just two days- a testament to both the bracelet’s legacy and the trust guests already placed in the shop.
