Guest requests custom ring with family diamond and new sapphires

Some of the most meaningful custom jewelry projects begin with a gemstone that already carries years of family history and sentimental value. That was exactly the case with this beautiful custom-designed ring created at Williamsburg Jewelers.

My guest brought us a treasured family heirloom diamond along with several ideas of what she wanted in the finished piece. From the very beginning of the design process, we were completely in sync about the vision. She wanted a ring that felt elegant, timeless and highly wearable while still showcasing the beauty and importance of her heirloom diamond.

Designing with sapphires and white gold

One of the first things she knew for certain was that she wanted to incorporate high-quality AA natural sapphires into the design. Sapphires and diamonds pair beautifully together, especially in white gold, which enhances both the brilliance of the diamonds and the rich blue color of the sapphires.

She also wanted the ring to have a sleek, low-profile appearance that she could comfortably wear every day. To achieve that look, we chose bezel settings for the gemstones rather than taller prong settings. The bezels allowed the gems to sit lower on the finger while creating a smooth, secure and modern finish.

The result was a custom ring design that feels elegant, timeless and practical for daily wear while still highlighting every gemstone beautifully.

Bringing her custom jewelry vision to life

As the design came together, every detail worked in harmony. The heirloom diamond remained the emotional centerpiece of the ring, while the natural sapphires added richness and contrast to the overall design. The white gold mounting completed the piece with a clean and sophisticated appearance.
