Williamsburg Jewelers races to support local children and families

Pulled over for a purpose

When Michael “The King of Diamonds” Fagan was spotted being pulled over by police while pedaling through town, it quickly sparked smiles and curiosity across social media. But behind the lighthearted moment was a mission with real heart.

This summer, Williamsburg Jewelers is turning community spirit into action by raising funds for Child Development Resources (CDR), a trusted nonprofit organization serving children and families throughout the Williamsburg area.

The effort centers around a fundraising bike ride taking place Aug. 9, 2025 with Williamsburg Jewelers owner Michael Fagan rallying the community to help reach a $2,500 fundraising goal. While the playful “breaking news” post captured attention online, the purpose behind the campaign is deeply meaningful: helping local children receive the support and early intervention services they need to thrive.

A community-focused mission beyond jewelry

For years, Williamsburg Jewelers has built its reputation on more than fine jewelry, custom engagement rings, and expert repairs. The locally owned jewelry store has become known throughout for investing in the community it serves. This latest fundraising effort continues that tradition.

By partnering with Child Development Resources, Williamsburg Jewelers is helping shine a spotlight on the importance of early childhood support services. CDR works with babies, toddlers, and families during some of the most critical stages of development, offering programs designed to strengthen growth, learning, and long-term success.

The organization provides hands-on services, education, developmental resources, and family support for children who may need additional assistance early in life. Those services can have a lasting impact not only on children, but on entire families throughout the community.

For Williamsburg Jewelers, the cause was an easy one to support.

Racing to make a difference for local families

The fundraising campaign invites community members to contribute any amount toward the goal, emphasizing that even small gifts can make a meaningful impact.

The message behind the campaign is simple: local businesses and local families are strongest when they support one another.

Rather than focusing solely on the event itself, Williamsburg Jewelers is using the fundraiser as an opportunity to encourage the community to come together around a shared purpose. Every dollar raised goes directly toward programs that help children and families across the Williamsburg area access care, guidance, and developmental support.

And while the “King of Diamonds” may have looked like he was racing away from Williamsburg’s finest, the real race is toward greater opportunities for local children.

That blend of humor, heart, and community engagement is part of what continues to make Williamsburg Jewelers stand out among other jewelry stores.

A jewelry store rooted in the Williamsburg community

Community involvement has long been part of the company’s identity. Williamsburg Jewelers regularly supports local nonprofits, charitable causes, and community events throughout the region.

The store’s connection to Williamsburg extends far beyond its showroom doors. Whether through fundraising efforts, partnerships, or local outreach, the team consistently looks for ways to give back to the people and organizations that make the area special.

That local-first mindset has helped Williamsburg Jewelers become more than a destination for engagement rings, fine jewelry, custom designs, jewelry repair, and luxury gifts. It has also helped the business become a recognizable and trusted part of the community fabric.

This latest campaign reflects the same values that have guided the company for years: investing in people, supporting families, and using its platform to make a positive impact.

Supporting Child Development Resources in Williamsburg, VA

For families in Williamsburg and surrounding communities, Child Development Resources plays a vital role in helping children build strong foundations during their earliest years.

The nonprofit’s services help address developmental challenges early, giving children access to tools and support that can positively shape their future. Programs like these are especially important because early intervention often creates lifelong benefits in learning, communication, social development, and overall well-being.

By raising awareness and donations for CDR, Williamsburg Jewelers hopes to help ensure more local families can continue receiving those important services.

Community members who would like to support the fundraiser can contribute directly to the cause and help Williamsburg Jewelers reach its fundraising goal before the Aug. 9, 2025 ride.

Turning smiles into meaningful impact

What began as a humorous social media moment quickly became something much bigger: a reminder of how local businesses can use creativity and community connection to inspire positive change.

For Williamsburg Jewelers, the goal is not simply to raise money. It is to rally the Williamsburg community around children and families who deserve every opportunity to succeed. And if a playful bicycle “police stop” helps bring more attention to that mission, then the King of Diamonds seems perfectly happy to keep pedaling.
